February 2025 | Issue 1 | Warmth

The Edit

Warmth. The word warmth can have many meanings in life, relationships + even in home design. For example, by Merriam-Webster, it is defined as “the quality or state of being warm in temperature, "the quality or state of being warm in feeling” + “a glowing effect produced by the use of warm colors.” We all want our home to feel warm and filled with love + comfort. It is a place where we spend time nurturing our relationships, our work and our souls. There are many ways to do this, including the way we behave + interact in our space. We can also create warmth by using cozy, rich colors, lighting, textures and even by utilizing art and images to evoke a comfortability and make our home feel like a sanctuary to us. Fostering warmth in your home has a positive effect on you, your family + your guests by making them feel welcome and at peace and in turn, they may even feel more connected to you and safe in your presence.

Design Inspiration

Design Tip 1:

Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2025 is Cinnamon Slate, 2113-40. It is described as “a delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown that offers enduring style and a modern sensibility.” We think this is a rich color that exudes warmth and comfort. We love it paired with neutral colors, warm woods and lush fabrics.

Design Tip 2:

Here are a few other ways to bring warmth into your space. Lean into layering textures with personal and organic elements - photos, books, candle sets, plants, throw blankets + big pillows. Things that make you want to sit + just sink into the vibe of your home. Take the time to play with lighting; is it too dark, too bright? Do you have the option to bring in lamps, when there are no dimmable overhead lights? Do you have your favorite photos out, but feel like they don’t go together? Try printing them in black + white or keep your favorite people in a similar landscape. We encourage you to experiment with the items you already have in your home to bring new life to your space!

Mind

Another way to bring warmth + kindness into all of your spaces, whether at home or out in the world, is by practicing gratitude. We love to do this by keeping a gratitude journal. A simple way to do this is to sit down with your morning cup of coffee or tea and make a list of the things you are most grateful for in your life. You can even encourage your children to do the same. Not only will this bring you peace + positivity every morning, but it will allow your mind to focus on the small wins in your daily life and keep you from dwelling on the negatives. This will train your brain to count your blessings, rather than the things you’re lacking and keep you from comparing your life to others.
