March 2025 | Issue 2 | Calm
The Edit
Calm. Just for a moment, close your eyes + imagine a still blue lake. Reed grasses sway in a gentle breeze and the birds above sing a melodic tune. You sit nearby watching spring unfold around you. How can we incorporate that feeling of peace into our busy lives? The holiday season and beginning of the year can feel like a very overwhelming and hectic time, but this month we are focusing on bringing more peace, calm and tranquility into our minds, environments and lives. Since we live in our minds + homes, it is our responsibility to make sure they are a peaceful place for us to be both productive and find rest. It’s so important to remember rest can be productive too. After all, the more we rest, the more we can pour into ourselves, our goals + our relationships.
Design Inspiration
Design Tip 1:
We think Benjamin Moore’s Dusty Cornflower, CSP-605 is the perfect serene, fresh blue for spring. In fact, the color is described with this sentiment, “imagine yourself in a wild field of light blue cornflowers, surrounded by their hushed beauty.” Does it get anymore peaceful than that?
Design Tip 2:
A peaceful home often starts with an organized home. Take the opportunity at the start of the new season to do some spring cleaning. Assess your needs vs your wants + get rid of things that are no longer serving you to create more space in your home. We also love experimenting with minimalist design - think less is more! Focus on function, neutral colors, clean lines + simple forms and try to avoid excess items in one area. A clean space means a clear mind.

Mind
This month, challenge yourself to do more of what makes your mind feel at peace. For some of us, that means exercising, spending time in nature, meditating or practicing a hobby. We especially find journaling helpful to calm our minds. More specifically, stream of consciousness journaling, is a technique where you write down your thoughts as they flow into your brain, without editing. It is a great way to reduce stress + organize your thoughts and feelings. Whatever your thing, be as present as possible + take it all in, even if it’s just taking a few extra quiet minutes with your morning cup of coffee.
