February 2024 | Issue 2 | Self Love
Self love. It’s become a bit of a cliche term, but we are determined that by the end of this note you’ll have a different view on self love when it comes to your home. Your home is a big part of what encompasses the term self love because it’s the space you most likely spend a lot of your time in. When our homes are not welcoming, we dismiss the opportunity for love that is so fulfilling + easy to receive. This welcoming can benefit us by providing a healthy space where we sleep peacefully, create, exercise, de-stress, love, and nurture relationships with our family and friends. It’s our safe space. But, an important thought to bring up is the misconception to most, that your home must be perfectly styled, large, expensive to truly feel complete. For example, the homes you see on social media. This is completely false. Please push these toxic thoughts out of your mind. If you focus on others having more than you then you will never feel the gratitude for the space that’s yours. Practice gratitude + practice a few familiar to do’s below in order to feel more fulfilled at home.
Here are some take away thoughts. Great things we can do within the home are some of the following; making your bed first thing in the morning, creating delicious meals in your kitchen, sharing takeout with friends on your living room floor, reading a good book in cozy spot by the window, staying in + watching a movie in bed. The list goes on! Choosing a scent that when you walk in through your front door, it just speaks YOU, focusing on keeping your space tidy + eliminating the build up of clutter to ensure that you have cleared the path to feel all the love and good vibes when at home. You’ll be surprised by how much you enjoy your space with a few minor adjustments.

Leisurely Interests
The art of making Sourdough at home. One of our team members has taken on this hobby + it has been an office perk because when trying new techniques, here comes the many loafs to eat! What was noticed in learning about sourdough making is that with all the techniques out there the recipe doesn’t have to be difficult in order to bake a delicious loaf. On the other side, the reality is that the more intricate the recipe is, the more delicious the loaf gets. Can you believe that? We didn’t understand until we tried the more difficult to make sourdough. Interested in this hobby? Grab a kit + go do it, but remember this is a hobby of patience. If you need a little inspiration we have loved all the things sourdough from the Ballerina Farm. We will leave you here with the tips to toast, add butter, + a drizzle of honey to your sourdough. You can thank us later.
Self Care
The new year brings re-focusing on self care, because we so badly need it after a nonstop Holiday Season, but realistically slowing down doesn’t happen until Mid- January. We are in the process of developing new habits, resetting the mind + body, and we’ve figured out it’s normal for January to feel like a foreign in between period that lasts forever, especially when it’s gray out. We welcome February with much anticipation that, fingers crossed, Spring is on its way and great things are on the horizon. We take the time to reconnect with others + we actually feel recharged again. The priority becomes refilling our own cups so we can give to others without sacrificing our own needs. We encourage you to continue working on your self care habits with our Apothecary Assortment of soap bars, salts, + the Daily Pause Journal.
