August 2025 | Issue 7 | Savor
The Edit
Savor. The month of August has long been called the “Sunday of summer,” a day traditionally reserved for rest, rejuvenation + time with loved ones. As the end of the season creeps closer, we are reminded to cherish these longer days of sunlight and savor each moment.
This time of year always brings me back to my adolescence, when I would crave summer all year long and then once August rolled around, I found myself feeling sad + projecting into the future, thinking about the school year ahead. The end of summer can easily lead you into thinking well into the holiday season, but the sun hasn’t set on summer yet! Feel the cool breeze of the evening air, sip your lemonade slow and smell those metaphorical + literal hydrangeas while they’re right under our noses. Ahhh, ain’t summer sweet?!
Design Inspiration
Design Tip 1:
Benjamin Moore’s Colonial Verdigris - CW-530 - is a stunning color choice that exudes elegance. We especially love the way designer, Anna Page, showcased it in a recent bathroom design here. Using contrasting colors for walls + crown molding is our latest obsession. This design choice packs a punch and effortlessly elevates the entire room, while still allowing the classic + sophisticated pieces to shine.
Design Tip 2:
This month, we took inspiration from the timeless + traditional interior design aesthetic of the southern United States. Some southern design staples include, decorating your home with sentimental items that are passed down through generations, extending your interior design into your outdoor spaces and mixing patterns + styles to reinvent those good ol’ country elements in new ways.

Mind
World renowned author + spiritual teacher, Eckart Tolle wrote, “as soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease.” His core teachings credit living in the present moment as the key to finding inner peace + liberating yourself from suffering. This can seem like a very lofty idea but let’s break it down simply. Our ability to recall from our memories and plan our futures as we see fit are wonderful gifts but when we become a slave to them, that takes us away from the present moment. How often are we letting regret of the past or ideas of the future pull us away from our current experience? We don’t need to abandon our gifts of imagination or memory, but sometimes it takes a Iittle extra conscious effort to remind ourselves of what’s right infront of us.
In a society that values efficiency + productivity, savoring the moment can be a game changer. We don’t have to wait until we’ve completed all of our tasks, to enjoy ourselves. The goal isn’t to fast forward time until the rest of your to do’s are crossed off, but to be present throughout the process, one moment at a time. Let’s allow ourselves to take those extra moments to sink in to our surroundings and simply enjoy being there, even if where you are isn’t your final destination.

A perfect way to round out the summer is with the final book of Elin Hilderbrand’s Nantucket collection, “Swan Song.”
This month’s pick centers around the Police Chief, who was on track for retirement until a mysterious fire swallows up an estate freshly acquired by the island’s newest residents, a rather lavish couple. With their assistant missing, who is also the Chief’s daughter’s best friend, he postpones his retirement to solve the case. This novel has plenty of mystery, romance and enticing, extravagant lifestyles.
